When people think of glazing, they usually think of replacing windows in a domestic property. An example of a domestic property is a standard size house.

The difficulty and complexity of replacing glass in a high-rise building is often forgotten. The process of replacing/installing glass in a large building is difficult and requires expert strategies to successfully complete the job.

The higher the building, the higher the wind speed, the colder the air and the hotter the sunlight. Windows in large buildings are thicker, heavier and more precisely installed, but this does not mean that they are immune to damage.

The risks of replacing windows in large buildings

Installing windows in large buildings is a task that comes with risks, and unlike smaller buildings, the risks involved are even greater - safety is the most important factor to consider when replacing glass in high-rise buildings.

A suction cup is used to lift the glass during installation. The glass in a large building can be thick and strong, although the thickness of the glass panes does not reduce its ability to crack.

Cracks can occur in glass panes due to lack of care, extreme weather conditions and pressure as well as other factors. Damaging glass in high places is very dangerous and it is a greater risk than occurring at ground level.

Typically four people are required to install glass in large/high rise buildings, two on the inside and two on the outside of the building.

Why might windows in high rise buildings need to be replaced?

Why do windows in high-rise buildings need to be replaced? Well, in high-rise buildings, the windows are exposed to a more intense environment.

If the windows are damaged in any way, they will need to be replaced as soon as possible for the safety of the building. Read on to find out more about other reasons why windows in large buildings may need to be replaced.

Water leaks

Leaks can occur if the windows are damaged, or if the fit of the windows is altered due to weather conditions. All of these factors mean that the windows will need to be replaced. Moisture inside a window can be the result of a crack somewhere in the glass.

When windows leak, moisture can enter the building and cause mould or mildew to grow on the inside of the window. Leaking windows can be the result of someone leaning against the window or the window shifting due to weather conditions.

Deformation

If the window frame is warped, then it may be time to replace the window. Warping may indicate that water has penetrated the walls of the building, which means that structural damage may have occurred.

Cloudiness

Cloudiness is also caused by water getting between the windows. If cloudiness occurs, it is best to replace the windows as a precautionary measure.

Cloudiness on glass is caused by hot and cold air, which can form condensation. The windows of the building may be damaged and need to be replaced. Strong winds may blow something onto the window, causing it to break or even fracture.

Changes in temperature from hot to cold can also cause windows to break due to the expansion and contraction of condensation within the panes of glass.
