7. Score a path only once and never try to re-score on the same line

Sometimes you may have the misfortune to draw a failing score line on a piece of glass. But don't try to re-mark the line using the exact same path. Instead, flip the glass over to the other side and carefully score the glass along the same lines.

Although this may give a different result depending on the original bad mark, this technique is useful when you have to use the same piece of glass and you don't have any preferred option.

8. Break the glass directly and try to avoid striking it with a cutter.

Don't let the glass settle after you have made your incisions, as cracks will appear in the path of the glass - these cracks will prevent you from cutting cleanly when you break the glass.

Sometimes, when you have scored the glass, you may find it difficult to separate it. Try to avoid tapping the glass with your cutter as this can sometimes leave a rough edge. However, if this is your only option for separating them, then you should tap the glass directly under the line to prevent it from flipping.

9. Choose a glass cutter with features that suit you

This is a personal choice based on your individual preferences. If you want to make just a few etched lines in a small project, then a low-cost glass cutter may be right for you. Some inexpensive cutters are suitable for one-off tasks, but be aware that their steel cutting wheels do not usually last very long.

However, if want to achieve cleaner cuts more frequently, or want to make the best of your latest important project. Then you should consider investing in a cutting tool that will prove to be a good investment over its lifetime. Consider the features and ergonomic characteristics of a glass cutter.

Finger grip or knurled handle - A knurled is a cross-hatch pattern rolled into the metal to provide an improved, sturdy grip that is very useful when working with oil or glove-covered hands.

Is it fitted with tungsten carbide cutting wheels, these determine the life of your tool, tungsten carbide is ranked ninth on the Mohs scale of hardness (after diamond).

What is the overall length and weight of the tool; too short and you will find it uncomfortable to hold; too long and it may give you an awkward balancing act.
